Understanding load shedding is critical for managing electrical emergencies. The A320 uses an automatic load shedding system that prioritizes essential flight systems when power generation capacity is reduced.

Key Concept
During load shedding, the system follows a priority hierarchy: Flight controls → Navigation → Communication → Lighting → Galley. Non-essential loads are shed first to preserve power for critical systems.
ECAM Warning
When load shedding activates, ECAM displays "ELEC - BUS SHED" on the Engine/Warning Display. Pilots must verify which buses are lost and adjust procedures accordingly.
